On Sunday the 4th of September, The Macleans Premier Girls Netball Team travelled to Northcote for five days of intense competition.
After finishing a successful sixth in the Greater Auckland Secondary Schools Netball competition, the highest placing a Macleans Premier Netball Team has gained in twelve years, the girls had high hopes and excitement for the week ahead.
Unfortunately, the girls were thrown into one of the toughest pools in the competition and even with each player giving it everything they had, and winning seven out of their ten pool games, the girls could not qualify to play for a spot in the finals.
The team finished a commendable 25th out of 96 netball teams from all over the country and netballer Courtney Clark states that, ‘all the girls gave every game their best effort for themselves and the team, and the tournament was a great way for us to end our season’.
Although the premier team will lose six of their experienced team members next year, returning girls look forward to another successful season in 2013.
