At 8:20am on Wednesday the 6th of February, swimmers from every house gathered in preparation for the annual school Swimming Sports. Students were transported to the Papatoetoe Centennial pools to prepare for the events, opening with the 4×50 Medley Relay. With the events underway, the day passed quickly. The races were both competitive and entertaining for swimmers and spectators.
Only a few races followed the lunch break, during which many swam in the pool. With the conclusion of these freestyle relays, Snell House was announced as the champions of this first major inter-whanau competition of the year, for the second year in a row. A bunch of hot, tired students then headed home for a well-deserved rest.
Congratulations to Snell House, and to all competitors involved. We also owe a huge thanks to the teachers and students that went along to ensure the day ran smoothly.
