On the 13th and 15th of February, Macleans hosted its annual Athletics Day. All students participated in high jump, long jump, 100m, 200m, 800m, javelin, shot put, and discus; with triple jump, 400m, 1500m, and hurdles making up the optional events.

Those who came in the Top 10 for each category have been invited to compete in the finals held at Lloyd Elsmore on the 27th of February (today). The rest of the school will go to cheer on their athletes, with the schedule including a House chant competition, relays, and even a students versus teachers race if we’re lucky!

As of right now, the 5 houses with the most finalists for each gender are as follows:

Boys – Batten, Mansfield, Rutherford, Snell, Upham
Girls – Batten, Hillary, Kupe, Mansfield, Snell

Best of luck to all the competitors for Finals Day and well done to everyone else for giving everything a go. We look forward to seeing 100% effort once again!
