The students who were a part of Macleans’ Investment Club were fortunate enough to receive an exciting guest speaker session on New Zealand’s economy and investment landscape by Mark Steele, a representative from one of New Zealand’s biggest investment advisory firms: Forsyth Barr.

On Thursday, May 18th, Mark Steele visited Macleans and spoke to members of the Macleans Investment Club, discussing macroeconomic factors that have affected New Zealand’s economy in recent years such as COVID or the Russia-Ukraine War, focusing on trends that directly impact companies and their investors.

Forsyth Barr will continue its outreach to Macleans College students by sending additional guest speakers after the midyear exams. Recently hired graduates from Forsyth Barr will visit Macleans to share their own insights, ranging from university studies to landing a position in New Zealand’s finance sector. They will also shed light on their experiences working in New Zealand’s financial industry and discuss future career opportunities and trajectories for students who have an interest in commerce and finance.

Mark Steele’s visit was an excellent opportunity for students interested in learning about the complexities of investing. Members of the Investment Club were highly engaged throughout the presentation and came away enthused about enhancing their financial literacy and knowledge in this area.
